Quetiapine Induced Cataract - A Rare Case Report

چکیده
Atypical antipsychotics are increasingly used as first-line treatment for bipolar disorder, in both acute mania and acute depression as well as in maintenance treatment. These have also been shown to be effective as addon agents and in long term prophylaxis. The most common side effects are dry mouth, sedation, dyslipidemia, weight gain, constipation, altered blood glucose level and extra pyramidal side effects. Quetiapine induced cataract has been reported in animal studies and extrapolation on humans was described as rarity. Hence, the case is reported to highlight quetiapine induced cataract.

متن کاملQuetiapine-induced Priapism Requiring Frequent Emergency Admissions: A Case Report
Priapism, a rare but well-known adverse reaction of first and second generation anti-psychotics, has been hypothesized to be associated with blockade of alpha 1 receptors. However, genetic abnormalities or heritability of affected cytochrome P450 alleles has not been ruled out as a causal mechanism. A case is presented with three episodes of priapism within 17 days while taking standard FDA (Fo...
